Märklin 3000 - BR 89 006
Part 2

Märklin's smallest Locomotive on the first test run after the second
modification. The front lights got replaced by LED's to make room for
the smoke unit to be installed.

The front light lenses got cut off from the original plastic lighting strip.
Three LED's were hot glued into the remaining opening from inside.

Same modification in the rear of the loco. The previous PCB board was
removed.

A closer look inside the body. The cab light is original from a Big Boy's
cab light LED board, cut to the smallest possible size to fit in this tiny loco.

Here the complete modifications inside the boiler. The head lights hot glued in,
in the middle of the picture the 4 pin connector for front, tail and cab lights.

Loco with body lifted up. From left to right, the first speaker, the 4 pin connector,
behind the connector the mfx decoder from ESU, on the right side the
high efficiency propulsion 5 pole motor with the second speaker on top.

First run on the test stand and the test of all functions.

Still waiting for the special smoke unit for plastic body's from Seuthe.

Finally the smoke generator is installed! Seuthe #410-008
I think it is the first time that somebody installed a smoke unit in a BR 89!

This project is done!
Did somebody ask for Telex couplers? I don't think so! May be, may be not!
This conversion was done without removing any material from the loco frame, no milling at all.
