Conversion from 2 Rail
(analog)
to 3 Rail (digital with original sound)
The beautiful Fleischmann # 4177
(BR 51 628-6) 2-Rail DC analog.
DC power pickup sliders at the inside of the driving wheels.
Fleischmann DC motor installed in the tender needs modifications.
Here is absolutely no room for the decoder!
The loco completely disassembled.
DC pickup from the wheel sliders will be converted
to get the power from both rails as
a return.
Rewiring of the loco, lights, smoke generator, center pickup and power return.
Center pickup shoe (Original Märklin part, modified)
Perfect place to put the ESU LokSound decoder,
there is plenty of space inside the boiler.
Cabling is hidden behind the cabin wall and below the frame to the tender.
Hard to see because of the close couplers, the cables to the motor and rear
light.
The speaker found a home in side the cabin, almost not visible.
Fleischmann BR 51 after the conversion on the Test Stand.
Everybody is happy!
