Restoration Märklin RS800 (1938)

This Electric loco was build by Märklin in 1938 - 1939. Most of this models are
not in a good shape because of the "Zincpest", a metal decease because of the
lack of quality metal availability to make a good cast in this years.

This model body was in an excellent shape, just the paint was peeling off.

The outer frame broken, the inner frame bent and broken.

Motor parts completely broken and many parts missing.

Also the reverse unit broken. Some parts still available but the magnet coil
was unwind and then rewind because of a broken wire.

There are possibilities to restore this loco completely. Some parts are available,
others need to be restored or even handmade.

The loco body got professional repainted with the original colors.

A new inner frame was made with the original forms from Märklin.

New wheel sets got installed

The drive wheel frame is ready to go.

The outer frame with the power selection switch installed.

Both frames reunited.

A new motor back housing with gear box.

Same from the back side.

Motor assembled with original parts.

LFCM motor installed in the frame. Ready for a test run.

The original pickup shoes (Loeffelschleifer)

Installed.

The rebuild reverse unit installed in the loco.

Light bulb holder and power pickup from the pantographs are still original.

All installed and connected with the original wires.

The loco runs better like new.

Everything is in a perfect working condition.

The windows and hand rails got installed.

Voila, the loco looks like in 1938.

Most of the parts are from the original loco, others are handmade.

The bottom with the couplers (BK4) and the original center springs.
